Offset Log Cabin Block

Project Description

What are you most proud of? The 2012 BOM was my first time making a sampler quilt --(I finished all of the blocks, and will start quilting it soon) -- This year I feel much more confident about my piecing skills. I am happy to be back for the 2013 BOM with my Craftsy BOM friends! What advice would you give someone starting this project? The instructor gives very detailed directions. Watch the video and follow along. Print out the course materials for the cutting dimensions. Have FUN!

What you will need

  • I will be using the "Spot On" fabric kit for the Craftsy 2013 BOM... Plus some black and white polka dot fabrics from my stash.... I think I am going to substitute in black
  • white and grey for some of the colors included in the kit
  • but still lots of polka dots!

Q&A with Di4N4

Omentide asked:
I love the 3-D effect in this
Di4N4 answered:
Thanks, Omentide-- the 3-D effect was accidental. I only noticed it in the small photo, and I'm not even sure how one would go about re-creating it... I think, perhaps it has something to do with the grey fabric that the blocks are auditioning on top of... ? At some point I want to learn about the "floating" effect. Thanks for the comment!

I love how these turned out. There is so much fun in your experiments.
Di4N4 answered:
Thanks! It was amazing to see how these simple blocks could create the different patterns. I am tempted to make a whole pile of them, lol!
