Number 1 Saints Fan

Project Description

What are you most proud of? I am most pleased with how the colors went together so well. The pinwheel block mesmerized me when I got the first one complete! The Football block was a surprise: it was supposed to be a square-in-a-square, but when I was pressing the first 2 corners, I noticed the football shape and kept the idea. What advice would you give someone starting this project? Choose your fabrics carefully: get more than what your pattern calls for, prewash them, and cut accurately.

What you will need

  • 100% cotton and cotton blends and 80/20 batting. The fabrics were gold and black prints.

Q&A with BeckeeCarrier

Debbie Swan asked:
I love this quilt. I'm a Saints fan and have been looking for a good Saints quilt. I think I've found it. Thanks.
BeckeeCarrier answered:
I sold 2 of these and both loved it!
PJTEXAS asked:
Luv-v-v-v it! You are so creative. You must make alot of sports fans happy! I really like that you didn't "over quilt" it. Sometimes you lose the main focus of your quilt when you stipple it to death or quilt designs all over it. I've seen some that could probably stand on their own because they are so stiff. Quilts are supposed to be cuddly & warm. Great job.
BeckeeCarrier answered:
I just couldn't take away from the design of the quilt top. So I stitched in the ditch and stuck to diagonal quilting.
Decker1486 asked:
What pattern is this?
BeckeeCarrier answered:
I dont really have a pattern for this quilt, but i got inspiration from a Quick Quolts magazine several years ago. Its a Louisiana Pinwheel and a football block. They are 12" quilt blocks when finished. Louisiana Pinwheel is 4 flying geese and 4 rectangles-3 1/2 x 6 1/2 and placed in a pinwheel pattern. The football block is 12 1/2" square with 6 1/2" squares sewn on diagonally on opposite corners. The borders are 6" wide, directionally placed.
