Mile a Minute Wonky Block

Project Description

What was your inspiration? Since I have just completed my May BOM blocks, I thought that I would create my own "wonky" blocks. I took a "Mile a Minute" quilt block class in a quilt quild several years ago and thought that this type of scrappy quilting would look good in a block. I might add my own wonky blocks to the king size quilt that I will make with the BOM blocks.

What you will need

  • Basic sewing and quilting supplies and cotton quilting fabric.

Those are really neat! How many minutes did they take? (:
SO Artsy answered:
"Mile a Minute" is the name of the technique that helps quilters not waste any fabric by sewing scraps together to create more fabric. The blocks created are cut into 6 1/2 squares and then connected with black sashing strips to create a larger block which can then be cut into a block that can be used in a scrappy looking quilt. The blocks are cut on the bias so care has to be taken when handling them.
