Man-Size Throw

Project Description

What are you most proud of? The Sashiko stitching is my favorite part of this quilt. There was no way I could have used small stitches on this throw. Looking at the close-up, you can see that I simply quilted on the front side and it created the pattern on the back. What advice would you give someone starting this project? Buy a needle puller. Going through the layers of flannel and the batting, your fingers will get SOOO tired. Invest in a commercially produced one, OR, use a square of the non-slip drawer lining. It works just as well!!!

What you will need

  • This project is made from flannel and a low loft batting. I used Perle Cotton #5 for the hand quilting.

Q&A with MaMaKat

kathleenh1202267 asked:
Is this hand stitched, it's lovely!
MaMaKat answered:
Yes, mam. I did it with my own little fingers! It was a new kind of experience, with the stitching made to be visible and an integral part of the quilt
