You Can Make This

Kathy Adams made Malaysian Merdeka with:

  • This is a quilt from Kathy Adams's East Meets West quilt exhibition. It was also displayed at the AMQA section of the 2009 Queensland Quilters Inc. annual exhibtion where it attracted attention and several visitors came up to the KoolKat stand at the show and made inquiries. The original quilt has since been sold. Kathy was inspired to make this and the others in the East Meets West series of quilts following a visit to Malaysia and Singapore in 2007. She loved the Malaysian batik fabric which the airline hostesses wore and she found lots of fabrics for sale in the markets in Sabah
  • East Malaysia (fromerly North Borneo). However
  • local quilt shops only seemed to have Western style fabrics in their quilts. Kathy then decided to make quilts using local fabrics
