Lap Quilt - Pretty Floral Quilt

What are you most proud of? I knew I wanted to make a medallion quilt with a traditional block in the centre to compliment the traditionally romantic style of the fabric. A dresden plate block seemed perfect. I did not use any pattern I had previously drawn up but wanted to test my ability to let the quilt evolve one step at a time. What advice would you give someone starting this project? When doing raw edge machine applique, take the time to do a practice run on scrap fabric so you are happy with the type of stitch (ordinary, buttonhole, zigzag, satin, blind hemming) and the size and density of the stitch you choose to use on the actual quilt.

You Can Make This

Q&A with Sew Well Maide

Caraline asked:
very beautiful, did you use Vliesofix to attach your pieces before appliquing your work??? I always do. Except sometimes its more of a bother as it doesnt always stick properly. Thanks for sharing
Sew Well Maide answered:
Thank you. No I didn't use anything to attach it first. I thought I would try just pinning it in place before sewing as I find the whole vliesofix procedure too time consuming. Happily I can report that just pinning worked really wellnnjust use lots of pins to stop any movement.
SagoOnTuesdays asked:

Thanks Sonya. I was very happy to see something pretty and useful come out of a bag of offcuts and leftovers.
