Kissing Booth Holly Hobby

Project Description

What are you most proud of? That I stuck to this process. What advice would you give someone starting this project? Take a look at the classes offered on and check out pictures of the quilts posted under projects. Make notes and see which classes worked for others and sign up and be ready to find a new passion. I did!

What you will need

  • I took the Quickly Quilting class online with Jenny Doan. Once I finished my quilt top and added my batting and fabric backing with techniques taught by Ann Petersen then I used the free motion quilting techniques taught by Leah Day. The border and binding were done using method by Kimberly Einmo.

Q&A with Scheri Manson

JuliN asked:
Very nice quilt, especially for a first quilt, Scheri. I'm sorry for your unexpected loss of your brother. I made my thread art quilt of my mom as a memorial to her using the Craftsy class.
Scheri Manson answered:
Thank you JuliN. I would love to see you thread art quilt. Can you post a link?
zinc6 asked:
Wow ... really proffessional looking quilting, would never know it was your first quilt. Its really flat and the free motion quilting looks excellent - you have inspired me to take Leah Days course as I am wanting to get more free motion instruction/experience.
Scheri Manson answered:
Zinc6 Leahs class is wonderful but I also purchased her ebook and video which I found to be a great resource.
TanjaH asked:
Very cute! This is a beautiful quilt and well made. Great job.
Scheri Manson answered:
Thanks TanjaH. What are you working on?
LynnHyman asked:
Very nice quilt! Thanks for documenting the steps in making it. You did a wonderful job and it is very inspiring!
Scheri Manson answered:
Thank you
Leah Day asked:
Gosh, the story behind this quilt, the process of making it, and the fact that it is your very first - honestly you are amazing. Quilting is by it's very nature a healing craft. I have always found piecing and quilting a bit like stitching yourself back together again. Definitely keep quilting, keep asking questions and learning. I feel so very lucky to have been a teacher that helped you with this process.
Scheri Manson answered:
Thank you Leah. I am hooked on quilting.
