Hourglass quilt bag

Project Description

What are you most proud of? the color combinations - the fabrics, the threads...even the lining! What advice would you give someone starting this project? This bag turned out beautifully. Since it is a small quilt, you could make all three rows of curves on one piece of fabric, rather than have three long strips. That's what i did for a second bag!

What you will need

  • Batik cotton fabric
  • poly thread
  • batting
  • button

McQuilter - awesome bag! I love it. Isn't it so fun to make the small quilt into a bag? You learn all of the techniques and then get to walk around with it! Thanks for posting the project - it's quite inspiring!
MCQuilter answered:
Thank you, Eileen for the great class!
LWangelin asked:
Absolutely beautiful!!! I joined the class but have not had time yet to work on it. Your purse is incentive to find the time. Love it!!
MCQuilter answered:
Have fun! BTW - i made the flap as a quilt cracker, so the back would not show when you open up the flap. The main body can be a quilt sandwish or cracker - the lining hides the messy lines on the back of the embroidery
4bird2 asked:
The hourglass shape works great here. Thanks for the idea, I also love batiks and your color choice.
MCQuilter answered:
Do let me know what you try out!
Bistry asked:
Wow! Liked the quilt but LOVE the bag! I just might want to take this class just to do a bag similar to yours.
