Home for Christmas

Project Description

What are you most proud of? I've always loved this layout. I found a picture of a floral quilt with leaves dancing up the blocks. In my quilt it's poinsettias that dance and lend movement. This was one of my very earliest experiences with free motion quilting and I think the spirals and swirls were a good choice. They were easy to learn and remain one of my favorite designs. What advice would you give someone starting this project? Log cabin quilts are so simple and so versatile. They also go together very quickly. Christmas fabrics are coming on sale right now and if you aren't too overwhelmed there is still time to stitch up a simple lap quilt or table topper.

This is just beautiful I really love how it looks like the leaves are growing and there is such movement... wonderful:)
K Lee 2Strings answered:
Thank you so much! It's the poinsettia fabric that makes the magic.
Nana Jo 54 asked:
This quilt is beautiful! I do love how the leaves dance along the sides too.
K Lee 2Strings answered:
Thank you so much, Nana Jo. I was really surprised at how that one fabric choice created the dancing effect.
Betsy0 asked:
Awesome, it looks like boughs of green with poinsettias climbing a lattice. A very special quilt to honor your mom.
K Lee 2Strings answered:
Thank you, Betsy! It's in some ways reminiscent of my mother's Christmas garlands winding up the staricase banister.
NO PATTERN USER asked:
OMG! what a talented mom I got. It is so sweet, and right away makes us feel the spirit of the season. I wish one day be able to experiment with fabrics (never would be able to accomplish such beauty), but you are really an inspiration for many of us here. Love the garlands effect. Thanks for sharing
K Lee 2Strings answered:
Thank you so much. I've already dragged it out even thought it's really a bit early. This is really a beginner quilt and so very easy to make. It would be a good starting point for learning to quilt.
