Hen Party Mug Rug

Project Description

What was your source for this quilting project? Online Photo or Website Name of website or photo Hen Party Mug Rug Link to website or photo www.craftsy.com/pattern/quilting/home-decor/hen-party-mug-rug/55719 What are you most proud of? Have you ever had a project that flew together perfectly, smooth as silk? Well, this wasn't one of those. If anything could go wrong it did. A Murphy's Law kind of project. When I was completely finished I discovered that horror or horrors, one of my hens was a rooster in disguise! Those tail feathers were just a bit much. Then I looked again and realized that these chickens had duck bills and those orange feet wouldn't do at all. Back to square one and do the whole thing over. Now I have two! lol What advice would you give someone starting this project? If at first you don't succeed - you just might have a conversation starter!

What you will need

Q&A with K Lee 2Strings

wimwim asked:
A real winner, so very cute.
K Lee 2Strings answered:
Thank you!
abanabana asked:
Definately a hen party! I love the blanket stitch you used to sew the applique on. Very effectful and different!
K Lee 2Strings answered:
Thank you! Zig zag works great, but I usually use my machine blanket stitch for applique. It gives it such a clean finish and, with contrasting thread, it can also decorate in an old fashioned way.
Shoestring asked:
Hi 2 strings. This is us, right? Two 'ol Hens? Love your sense of humor, in your Illustration of affection between close friends. This will be a hit at the Tuesday night group. Lov ya gal. Great mug rug!
K Lee 2Strings answered:
Thanks, shoestring. When are you coming to visit? I'm waiting so we can have our own little hen party.

cndyhowe0 asked:
I would love to change this up a little for a wall hanging for my kitchen ...
K Lee 2Strings answered:
Oh, please do whatever it takes to make it right for you. Some people have enlarged the templates and others have set them into blocks that are surrounded by borders of various kinds. I don't believe I've ever used a pattern of any kind without tweaking it. If you do make a wall hanging, please send me a photo!
