Friendship circle and wonky log cabin

Project Description

What are you most proud of? Matching everything up and learning new things about my sewing machine. What advice would you give someone starting this project? I found that stitch in the ditch was the only option for these blocks because the back was also denum and the heavy layers do not work with freemotion quilting.

What you will need

  • This quilt features: 5 Wonky Log Cabin Blocks
  • May's block of the month and 7 Friendship Blocks
  • October's Block of the Month. Materials used: Truck print flanelette.. Denum scraps from my friend. Left over material from making Otto's baby quilt. - I recycled two red table cloths
  • for the sashing. - I did free motion quilting on the larger joining strips of denim. - The backs of the blocks were denim cloth napkins. - one cone of thread and 34 bobins of thread. I used 5 needles.

Q&A with HeatherIsaacson

Reana Z asked:
nice quilt, since it is denim backed perfect for the park to watch the fireworks!
HeatherIsaacson answered:
We won't be seeing fireworks until next July at "thunder in the valley". This quilt will be received by an 11 year old boy for Christmas, He will probably sleep in it.
Ladybev asked:
He is one lucky boy. You are very generous! There's a lot of work in that quilt. :-)
HeatherIsaacson answered:
I agree, I enjoyed every minute. I do a Christmas marathon, from mid October- the third Sunday of December. I sew straight through. all materials are donated and I just create. I have a list of 22 children which will all get quilts this year.
TanjaH asked:
This is really cool. Love the combination of denim and funky geometric shapes.
HeatherIsaacson answered:
Thank you TanjaH
