Project Description

What are you most proud of? I love the embroidered butterflies and the wording on each side of the quilt. What advice would you give someone starting this project? Take your time - I had planned on having a few weeks to finish this project - but due to a family illness - had to fly home a week before the cancer fundraiser. Needless to say - I only had one day to quilt, package and complete........I was definitely pressed for time - but all in all - I think it turned out quite nice. Hopefully - It will raise some money through the raffle/silent auction.

What you will need

  • Cotton materials
  • threads of various colors of embroidered butterflies to represent different forms of cancer ribbons
  • krienik and metallic threads - Every thread in this quilt was chosen to represent the types of cancer including the free form quilting.

Beautiful, inspirational quilt.
marianna2011 answered:
Thank you Darla - I enjoyed making this one. Apparently it went for $200 at the silent auction so I am happy about that.

Essem Sween asked:
This is a really beautiful quilt even at first glance, but when you look further and see the butterflies and words of inspiration you see a quilt that was sewn with more than thread. Those of us who are fighting this disease are more grateful than I can express for people like you who dedicate more than time to help raise funds for research into beating this cursed illness.
marianna2011 answered:
Essem thank you for your.gracious reply. We lose too many to that cursed disease and I truly hope that we will find a cure for all forms of it! Never give up - Keep the faith and be strong!

marianna2011 answered:
there isn't one - did it myself - it's basically pinweels and then embroidered butterflies and I added the words myself as well - hope that helps...........
