El Greco Horse

Project Description

What are you most proud of? That a piece of art was created between two generations... and love of art has been passed down. What advice would you give someone starting this project? I used the Creative Feet Satin Stitching foot. Wow! What a difference! The foot is a bit pricey in my opinion, but after using it quite successfully on these projects... and not only successfully, but with ease that I have changed my mind about the cost. It is so well worth the money. Also, I used the Pearls and Piping foot from Creative Feet to attach the 3 foot chain of rhinestones. You can see where I started and stopped at the bottom. I probably should have put on some jewelry glue to hold the beginning and ending pieces together that way the thread would have somewhere to grab and wrap itself around. I hand sewed a key ring onto the back to hang it up easily.

What you will need

  • I used black Isacord thread to do the outlining and quilting
  • fusible fleece for the batting
  • and a cream background with tiny black and red flower cotton print for the background. I satin stitched the edge with the Isacord and then attached a 3 foot length of rhinestones in a black plastic chain around the edge. The top is coated in textile medium to protect it.
