Dresden Plate

Project Description

What are you most proud of? The 3-D effect when you look at the blades. Was not expecting that. What advice would you give someone starting this project? Lots of pressing!! And be accurate with the cutting.

What you will need

  • Fabric from my stash

Q&A with Dedemac

JanJo asked:
Would love to know how you did this, It's awesome!
Dedemac answered:
I made a stripe of white and dark just wide enough for the template and very carefully cut the templates with the center being the seam. Had to remember that I could only cut one direction.
Sheryl Miller asked:
Sorry first day with my new fingers I guess. This block is very impressive! Love the colours too.
Dedemac answered:
Are you from across the pond or down under?
Charsewcrazy asked:
this is very cool, I might copy your idea if that is ok, I am behind since my Mother died last month
Dedemac answered:
I would love to see what you do. I remember seeing the inspiration in the background of a video a while back.
Betty Johnson asked:
thats cool, how many plates did you do and size?
Dedemac answered:
Just the one, at least for now and it is the size that will fit into our BOM.
judy363905 asked:
Wondering, did you cut your blades from a strip made with two fabrics? Very striking result. Judy in Phx, AZ
Dedemac answered:
Yes, you just have to pay attention to which end is the top of the blades. It made it very easy to fold in half to sew the top.
