Curved Log Cabin

What are you most proud of? I am pleased at how the quilting came out. I am using this quilt as a gift to my aunt. What advice would you give someone starting this project? Follow Marti's instructions about fabric cutting. It helps tremendously keeping the blocks square.

Q&A with nmcclel

QuiltDude asked:
This is so neat! Curved log cabin, how clever, and you pulled it off beautifully. Your quilting also is quite nice. I am sure your aunt will love, love, love it!
nmcclel answered:
Thank you for the encouraging words,
JBlixt asked:
I really love this quilt, the colors you chose turned out so nice and the quilting really compliments it. What pattern did you use for the quilt?
nmcclel answered:
The pattern is called Curved Log Cabin. I found it in a book called Log Cabin ABC's by Marti Michell Marti's method makes it easy to produce a block that finishes square instead of slightly out of square. It was a fun quilt to work on. I am a scrappy quilter and used up what I had in each color group!
Torrumbar1039463 asked:
Beautiful quilt- love how a traditional block has been used with a contemporary look
nmcclel answered:
I like traditional quilts, but I Love modern fabrics like the batiks. Fun to combine the two!
Jennifer Thomas asked:
Wow - your feathers are looking gorgeous! I especially like the Spiral Feather. Beautiful!
nmcclel answered:
Thank you! The spirals were easier than I thought they would be. I kept drawing them on paper before quilting them on my quilt. This is my first spiral attempt on a project though.
RachieLee asked:
Oh my goodness, I'm so happy to see someone else has done this quilt! I have this very same quilt top finished but I am struggling with finding backing and I had no idea how I was going to quilt it. This was such a fun quilt to put together and I love log cabins now. You did a beautiful job on this quilt, your stitching is very nice!
nmcclel answered:
This was tricky to try to figure out how to quilt.. I used designs from class and looked at quilting books from the library. I also atend quilt shows in my area and check out how other people quilt their quilts. Would love to see a picture of your quilt top!
