Caribbean Daze_BOM 2012

Project Description

What are you most proud of? I am most proud of finishing---as it took me a few months longer than I had anticipated. I am also pleased of the many lessons learned from this course. This was also my very first attempt at free motion quilting. Boy, it sure is scary starting to quilt that first block!! What advice would you give someone starting this project? Don't doubt yourself in any aspect of this project.....you can do it! And I would advice to relax and have fun.

What you will need

  • Mixed stash of fat quarters
  • Fabric Traditions (binding and some background) and New Beginnings (Jill Gordon for Free Spirit/Westminster Fibers/Iris) for backing.

Q&A with Eastern Quilter

Pootsie asked:
This is simply lovely. I love it.
Eastern Quilter answered:
Thanks for the nice comment, Pootsie. I really enjoyed this class (and the few others I have taken). My current quilting project is more "Colonial Williamsburg" colors.
Scheri Manson asked:
Fabulous. What a beautiful quilt. Like your fabric choices and your quilting :-D
Eastern Quilter answered:
Thanks, Scheri! I wish I could pump these quilts out as finished projects more quickly, but they take time, especially the Free motion quilting. Also, I certainly enjoyed looking at your projects. Beautiful work!
sweetbake723337 asked:
I love it and would glady place it on my bed!!!!! Reminds me of my recent trip to Cancun.
Eastern Quilter answered:
Oh, thanks! Yes, it reminds me of anywhere where there are the historical colonial homes.....Puerto Rico, also.
Pam NZ asked:
WOW!!! Beautiful FMQ'g and just adore your blocks... so much fun!
Eastern Quilter answered:
Thanks, Pam. The Flying Geese block was my favorite quilted block....others, not so much. I can see where the quilting takes practice!
Kat56 asked:
This is stunning!
Eastern Quilter answered:
Thanks so much! It sure is a bright one!
