BOM July

Project Description

What are you most proud of? My first Dresden blocks ever and they were so much fun... not scary like I had always imagined them to be LOL!

What you will need

  • Cotton fabrics. Traditional Dresden was zigzagged using Isacord 40 colour 4111. Modern Dresden was blanket stitched using Superior Threads Rainbows colour 838 (variegated).

Q&A with Pam NZ

Nstitches4u asked:
Very pretty! I love your color selection.
Pam NZ answered:
Thank you!
Pamillia asked:
Great blocks, Thanks for sharing.
Pam NZ answered:
Thanks... love blocks that use multiple fabrics, they're so much fun!
Darns asked:
Very, very nice! And don't you just love Isacord thread - so many yummy colors. I use it all the time for machine embroidery.
Pam NZ answered:
Thank you... I'm new to Isacord but I'm absolutely loving them. Different weight threads are hard to come by over here, so learning heaps about different threads on Craftsy and FMQ tuts on the web. Do you sew with Isacord as well as mach embroidery? I'm using it now for piecing as well coz I can't find lighter weight threads locally.
saxostamper asked:
Oh pretty, pretty, pretty, love them. Nice job.
Pam NZ answered:
Aaaw shucks, thanks!
Godzoned asked:
Cool! Great work Agggh not more appliqu quilting? I avoided the hexigon class - watched the vid- because of the hand sewing element.... LOL. Just a small thing of mine.
Pam NZ answered:
LOL send yours down south and I'll hand sew your hexies AND I'll even volunteer to machine your dresdens on... I put off doing the hexies too, even thought about swapping them for another block but then decided NO! This beginner quilter HAD to do them just once... even if she never does them again lol. Come on, ya know ya really want to hehehehe.
