Project

BOM II Jan-Feb

Project Description

What are you most proud of? Don't know yet. Concerned about the green/white band in the Chevron... is it too light? What about the hot pink in the balkin star? What advice would you give someone starting this project? Have a lot of options from your stash to chose from. Use a design board to place the pieces (and make changes) before you start sewing. I am sure that as the blocks come each month the focal point/impact will change. Challenge is to keep so many strong prints in balance.

What you will need

  • Contemporary cotton print fabric. I am very comfortable working with batiks
  • and wanted to stretch to something that will challenge my sense of color
  • balance
  • and contrast.

Q&A with Columbus Kate

Northwoods Pat asked:
I LIKE your fabric choices, and that you're doing two very different versions of the BOM. As to your questions about the fabrics in your description above, I think when we get more of the same fabrics worked into future blocks, it can pull everything together even better.
Columbus Kate answered:
thanks, Pat. I have so little experience with contemporary/lively fabrics and can see where future blocks maybe with repeated fabrics will make me mor comfortable.
