Bird of Paradise

Project Description

What are you most proud of? I did it! I finally learned how to do paper foundation piecing. (Wooo hooo! Doing the happy dance!) What advice would you give someone starting this project? Watch all the videos all the way through before starting any of the projects. You will get a lot of hints and tips about foundation piecing. Take notes. Make a list of things you will need and have them available. (Don't forget the Scotch #811 removable tape, LOL!) Before you start each particular project, re-watch the video for that project. That helped me a lot. Cutting and organizing your fabrics is a must. I was able to assembly-line sew three additional blocks after I did the first one all the way through. I didn't have the Bind-it flags, but I used regular binder clips and just marked the numbers on the black sides with DecoColor liquid silver paint. Take your time. Aim for precision. Deal with issues that come up and try to work out the best solution to the problem. You will learn a great deal just by doing that.

What you will need

  • Carol Doak foundation paper (absolutely wonderful!)
  • add-a-quarter ruler
  • fat quarters on hand
  • thread
  • and Scotch brand removable tape #811 (LOL
  • lots).
