Batiki Bird Mini Quilt

Project Description

What are you most proud of? Finishing! I have a new admiration for those who make quilts. Each step was a real learning experience. Though I had done small projects, this is my largest to date. The finished quilt is 26.5" square and makes a nice wall hanging. What advice would you give someone starting this project? I am new to quilting and am not adept yet at free motion stitching. The directions for the quilt were not very detailed. Besides stitching in the ditch of all of the background pieces and the tree, etc., it just said to quilt it. But the pictures in the book did not show this detail so I was not sure what to do. After finishing it I Googled the title and found some pictures that showed the quilting up close and it is much more detailed! When I am more skilled, I plan to go back and add this additional stitching as it will add more interest and texture to the piece. If you want to try this quilt, do check out the online pictures so you can see how this additional stitching was done and how much nicer it looks.
