April BOM - Block 2

Project Description

What are you most proud of? The way it turned out - it is pretty "arty" for me - I rarely use curves, so was glad it turned out as well as it did. What advice would you give someone starting this project? Since my other advise was to "Skip April" I think this advise would be do whatever you have been wanting to try!

What you will need

  • Cotton quilting fabric - black and white

Q&A with Sewpippy

Prairieknitter asked:
Very cool, almost reverse applique there at the end! It was very tempting to skip April, but I did the racing strip block. I skipped the Sunny With Chance of Hex and reduced the hex size down to about a dime and made a traditional flower garden instead. Still sewing that together. There are 210 hexes in that 12.5 x 12.5 inch block.
Sewpippy answered:
210 Hexes! Anxious to see - but would be way too painful for me ! ENJOY!
AlyxRansom asked:
Hey! What happened to my comment?! I got all done with it and it disappeared! Well.. hmmph... I *love* this block! It is sooooo snazzy I can hardly stand it! Way to triumph, Sewpippy! Well done! (This is totally different from my first comment, btw.) ;-)
Sewpippy answered:
Many Many thanks! It is "totally out there" for me - the one that likes to "color within the lines" :-)
Merrypal asked:
Maybe next month you could show me all your blocks together. This block is very very interesting to me! Nice work
Sewpippy answered:
For sure - when I finish May's second block I will add a picture of all my blocks - thanks for your encouragement!
MamaPris asked:
Where did you get your paper pieced pattern?? I like this block very much! (I too have been dragging my feet.. I am way behind and still need to finish March!!) Yikes!
Sewpippy answered:
I drew it up myself - but did need to get a Wright's EZ flex design rule, just drew it on freezer paper and it worked great! So guess it is an "Original"
bandanagold asked:
The flying geese block is totally cool Did you use a pattern?
Sewpippy answered:
I drew up a pattern on freezer paper before I started, was not as hard as I originally thought.
