Q&A with asnake

Evelyn Klemme asked:
looking for a suggestion for which rulers I should buy to start quilting with rulers. Have picked the DVD's from Amy Johnson and a couple of your starter quilts. (The multi design all on white, and the Patriotic Quit)
asnake answered:
Hi Evelyn, I think you really need just two rulers to start with: a straight ruler and a continuous Curve ruler. That's fine to get an idea, whether you like quilting with rulers or not. As the rulers are a bit expensive, I would only buy rulers, when you figured out what you are up to. (ehm... what's the Patriotic Quilt?)
Mparentwe3983734 asked:
Hi! Was this your first time quilting with rulers? I've never quilted before but I do sew clothing. Do you think a complete quilting novice could learn this? Thank you.
asnake answered:
Hi! Yes, this was my first time quilting with rulers. But I do free motion quilting for about 6 years. Although I cant's say, how you would manage this, I would not suggest a complete novice to start quilting with rulers. You'd rather start to practice free motion quilting just to get used to the movements with lowered feed dogs. And take the rulerwork as a goal for the future :-)
