Davesmom asked:
I am not a sessioned quilter. What size quit is your goal. When I look at the quilt in your photo, it seems the lower stars are smaller than the top, but I dought you made it that way. Maybe just the photo. A boader of some kind of print would draw your eyes to the middle. The material you have choosen is very plan, if you could find a print that had some of the same colors in it, would pull your colors all together. Or even if you make blocks for a boarder using the material that is in the quilt. I would make the next sash going down a size. I love stripes but I am not sure that would go well with the stars. Nice job keeping things squared. Good luck with your project. Be sure to post when your are finished it.

The stars are in graduated sizes as are the borders and I am leaning toward your suggestion of making squares or blocks because I think subsequent 'rounds' would be too plain. Also I don't want to lose the center block - I want it to stand out. The fabric actually has a small print in it but it doesn't show up in the photo. My son wanted all Patriot colors (navy, silver grey, and red). I'm like you I like brighter prints. I do like your idea for stripes - maybe a border using all the colors in stripes to separate the center area and then adding pieced blocks from there! Got me thinking - thanks my friend:-) I'm not seasoned just a woman with ideas and time on her hands:-)
