Ada's Quilt - Step Down Piecing

Project Description

What are you most proud of? The hand quilting, I watched Sarah's video on the Craftsy blog a few times and thought I should give it a go. I really like her technique and found it so enjoyable once I go into it. What advice would you give someone starting this project? Once you get a few pieces done and start to see a pattern I found it easy to work in diagonal rows, doing all the partial seams to attach a small square to a big square and then attaching them to the larger piece in an order that gives you the most seams to close up. Just get stuck into it and in no time the process will flow!

What you will need

  • Wombat Wonderland fabrics by Saffron Craig
  • cotton batting
  • Perle Cotton No.8 for hand quilting

Q&A with Pesca Presents

Klute asked:
you did a great job. I'm a total beginner. Could I handle this class?? Does the teacher also help with the embroider stitches?? that is a nice touch
Pesca Presents answered:
I think a beginner could follow the class. Some experience with basic quilting techniques & steps would help but Sarah isa great instructor, I find her explanations very easy to understand and then seeing her actually do the steps is awesome. There's a video on the Craftsy blog introducing Sarah and she does a quick tutorial on the hand quilting technique I used in this quilt.
