I was asked in 2011 to make a quilt with Union Jacks for my sons family camping holidays. When I had completed this quilt I was inundated with requests from friends for the pattern and this was the start. It is a quilt even for people who don't 'do' quilts. It will never date and even in 100 years time the Union Jack may have changed but it will always be The Union Jack. It is brilliant for Brits anywhere in the world, for whenever there is a reason to celebrate or just for watching The Cricket, The Tennis, Concerts by the lake or picnics in the Park. Inside on a bed or couch, or outside on the grass or beach it is unseasonal and practical. For 2012 it represents a souvenir to make for a family member or friends to celebrate our Queens Jubilee or The Olympic Games held in London. I have found however that one is not enough, all the boys in my family want one and so now I'm on my fourth. BASIC SKILLS NECESSARY Not difficult for an experienced quilter as it does fit together really well. But correct tools are necessary for accuracy. ie: ruler, cutting board and rotary cutter.
