PATTERN DETAILS

Use this pattern to make a whole wardrobe of handy cloth totes for running errands, taking books to the library, carrying groceries home from your local Farmers' Market, or toting your kids' stuff to the beach. It's easy to make your own custom-quilted double-sided fabric using two favorite prints and following the directions provided in the pattern. The straps create divided outer pockets on both sides of the tote. A zipped inner security pocket make it easy to organize everything inside and out. Rickrack trim is optional as well as a coin purse that drops down inside the tote for more safe storage for your cell phone, make-up, credit cards and cash. Yardage and directions are also included for making a lined (not quilted) tote using fashion fabrics such as denim, tapestry, or faux suede. I am a published sewing and quilting author with several books and many magazine articles to my credit. My most recent book, How to Make a Quilt was published in August 2014 by Storey Publishing. I've written two other successful books for them-- The Quilting Answer Book and The Sewing Answer Book. I learned to sew from my great grandmother, two grandmothers, and my Mom when I was barely in grade school and I've been sewing ever since. I added quilting to my repertoire in the 1980s and worked for a major quilt book publisher as Managing Editor and then Editor-in-Chief for 5 years. Now I have my own business, designing quilts and tote bags and anything else that strikes my fancy. Go to www.joyofsewingandquilting.blogspot.com to see my projects and whatever else I'm up to. Thanks for stopping by and I hope you find something you'd like to make in my Craftsy store!
