Pattern Details

Stitch this beautiful Civil War Sampler quilt (72" x 72") using vintage patterns with reproduction fabrics (The Blue and the Gray by Windham). The center 24" Fredonia Oak Leaf is easy to make using raw edge appliqué, as is the Order No. 11 (12"). Of course, this appeals to those of you who enjoy hand appliqué. The other blocks have clear instructions for rotary cutting. Full size templates for the appliqué blocks make this easy to get stitching! A color page with the fabric skus (images) is also included. This quilt was beautifully quilted by Connie Gallant (who also owns this!)

Recommended with this pattern

  • • 42154-4 Tan for blocks (2-1/2 yards) • 42150-3 Red for blocks (2 yards) • 42153-1 Blue for blocks (1-1/4 yard) • 42148-1 Blue Floral for blocks, border and binding (2-1/2 yards) • 42152-5 Green for blocks (1-1/2 yards) • Template material (I prefer freezer paper) • Optional: 1 yard paper backed fusible webbing for raw edge applique (assumes this is 42” wide; if webbing is only 20” wide, you will need 2 yards) • Thread to match fabrics for either hand or machine applique • 4-1/2 yards backing
