I love paper piecing and I love my car; I have named her Delilah, she inspired this block. I am currently designing other blocks to go with this pattern such as a peace symbol so that I can make a hippie themed quilt. My brother is a beetle fanatic as well, so I also had him in mind when designing this block, the beige beetle he had in his late teens started my LOVE of the beetle! This pattern is for quilters of an intermediate to advanced level due to the number of pieces and sections. Paper piecing knowledge is required to use this pattern as step by step instructions are not included. A diagram is included to show the piecing order. Each section is also clearly labelled with the order and color. Seam allowances have been added. The wheels and hubcaps are appliqued on the block once it is paper pieced. BASIC SKILLS NECESSARY Paper piecing knowledge SIZING / FINISHED MEASUREMENTS 12" x 23"

Recommended with this pattern

  • 1/2 yard of two different fabrics, iron on interfacing such as Wonder Under for attaching the wheels
  • a small scrap of black fabric to cut the wheels from

I am an Australian expat living in Colorado. I have been sewing since high school but only began quilting in 2012. I love paper piecing and scrappy quilting. I share a lot of my patterns FREE on my website but some of my most precious patterns are here in my Craftsy store, these are mostly patterns that I have spent immense amounts of time designing, testing and editing. I also have many free patterns here to encourage people who haven't paper pieced to give it a go!!!
