This is a foundation paper pieced pattern for a spinosaurus dinosaur. Visit my shop to see 8 other dinosaur patterns, as well as a quilt pattern that uses all 9 and a bonus dino egg pattern! The Spinosaurus lived in North Africa about 100 million years ago. They weighed up to 20 tons (that's like 3 elephants!) and grew up to 50 feet long. They were believed to live on both land and water, like a crocodile. The spinosaurus was actually larger than the T-Rex, and may have been the largest carnivorous dinosaur. Templates are included for 18"x12", 12"x8", and 9"x6" finished blocks. Each block has 1/4" on each side for seam allowance and an extra 1/4" on each side for trimming (i.e. the 18"x12" pattern makes a 19"x13" block which should be trimmed to 18.5"x12.5" and will finish in a quilt at 18"x12"). There are also instructions for squaring up each block to 18", 12", and 9" square. There is a separate template file for each block size. Each section is clearly labelled and 1/4" seam allowance has been added for each section. The non-background template sections are lightly shaded to make piecing easier, There is also a numbered reference image of the entire pattern included. Fabric Requirements: 18": HY bkgd, FQ dino 12",9": FQ bkgd, F8 dino These are conservative estimates: FPP fabric useage will vary with how you cut your pieces. These estimates do not include strips to square up blocks. Use scraps or small pieces for the rest of the dino parts. Paper piecing instructions are not included.
