This simple little quilt is perfect for the first-time quilter! She or he will gain experience with 1/2-square triangles and multiple borders. As a teacher of beginners, it is important to me for a first-time quilter to be proud of completing that first project and eager to start the next one. This one is a great confidence builder. It also makes a quick, easy week-end project for any quilter when baby is due any minute. The quilt pictured on the pattern was one of my very first quilts. I even tried out free-motion quilting and longarm quilting on it. Although my own skills were just developing at the time, I love this quilt and actually use it to keep my head warm on winter nights! My mother taught me to sew when I was 8 - doll clothes by hand, then she moved me on to her old Singer. But it was Home Ec in Jr. High where I discovered that sewing was my "thing.". Throughout the years, I sewed clothing and made pillows and curtains and stuff. But quilting? Just the thought of cutting a beautiful piece of fabric into little pieces and sewing them together again seemed a little crazy to me. But when my first great-niece was born, I made my first quilt for her and was hooked! As a new quilter, I couldn't find designs that were easy enough, so, I got design software and started tinkering. Now that I am retired, my life is all about my DH and quilting. Thanks to Craftsy, I am able to share my designs and patterns with you. In addition to quilt designing, I stay busy in my guild, and have a quilting business: Quiltniques! My beloved longarm is named Margie and she works hard.
