Create your own forest with this quilted tree pattern from the Patchsmith. Perfect for Christmas or any time of the year, this pattern comes with full size template, colour diagrams and easy-to-follow instructions. There is also a photo tutorial available on my blog (google 'Patchsmith Quilted Tree' or use the link above). You can create a tree from one quilted 12" square making this the ideal project for using up those quilt test squares created when trying out a new quilt pattern. Alternatively you can use three 6" x 10" quilted rectangles for a scrappy tree. You can leave the tree unadorned for a simple country look or add buttons, ribbon, rick-rack or trim. (I added pom-pom trim on the red tree - just stitch in place once the tree is made.) This pattern is for personal use but permission is also granted to make this item to sell provided the item is handmade by you and you credit the Patchsmith for the design. No mass production allowed. BASIC SKILLS NECESSARY Very simple quilting. SIZING / FINISHED MEASUREMENTS Finished size: approx 5" x 8"

Recommended with this pattern

  • One 12" quilted square or three 6" x 10" quilted rectangles.
  • One 12" square of lining fabric.
  • Firm batting/wadding

I am the Patchsmith. I patch, applique, sew and quilt. I have been creating a life of fabric, fun and friends for many, many years. I believe a pattern should be easy to follow, with clear diagrams and full-size templates. Value is also very important to me - both in terms of fabric wastage and to the buyer. Patchwork is about sharing and that is why all my patterns are priced for everybody to afford. To contact me visit my blog ( and click on 'About the Patchsmith' or email me at
