Make It Simpler
Make It Simpler
Anita Grossman Solomon is a full-time quilter and the author and innovator behind three Make It Simpler® books from C&T Publishing and her CuttingLines™ patterns. A Craftsy instructor “Traditional Blocks Made Simple” and blogger, http://www.craftsy.com/blog/author/anita-grossman-solomon/?_ct=rbew&_ctp=175541 she has taught on Alex Anderson’s shows. Anita's quilts have been displayed everywhere from the ceiling of the International Quilt Festival in Houston to an enormous screen high above Times Square in New York City. With a degree in art and experience as an art curator, Anita has developed an in-depth knowledge of and appreciation for quilting’s history as well as its more modern trajectory. While passionate about the look of some of the most complex traditional blocks, the daunting amount of cutting and sewing involved (and high seam-ripper potential) got Anita's brain working overtime to figure out an easier way. Suddenly, something as complex as the Make It Simpler® Pineapple block could be achieved in fewer cuts and better planned sewing. Since 2003, Anita's three books and the blocks she chooses to "revolutionize" keep all quilters in mind, offering techniques that will quickly deliver perfectly pieced blocks every time. An international guest speaker and popular instructor, Anita encourages her students to create the blocks and quilts that best express who they are – whether that's via wonderful Liberty of London prints, exotic batiks or color drenched Kona solids. What's Anita's favorite part of teaching? "Waiting for each student to have their 'Eureka!' moment of understanding the magic behind the trick." Anita eagerly awaits the next wave of quilting expression, and is ready to innovate right along with it.
