PATTERN DETAILS

Lupine is a gorgeous wildflower that grows all over Maine, as well as other parts of the country. Flowers vary in color; in Maine they are usually pink or purply-blue, but can even be white. When I think of Maine, I immediately think of lupine, so I knew that it had to be part of my Downeast Paper Piecing series. You can make one 10"x10" block into a pillow, a wall hanging, or an element of a table runner, or assemble multiple blocks to create a larger quilt. This pattern has 15 pieces, but with easy joining points (no y-seams!). There are some sharp angles, so be generous in your scrap cutting, but the bit of extra effort is SO worth it. Make this with any three shades of your favorite blue, purple, pink, or even white. The pattern includes color codes on each foundation to help with accurate piecing. The assembly diagram for this pattern is on a separate page from the foundation pieces so that you can conserve paper when printing. Always be sure to print "Actual Size" and check the Size Reference 1" square to confirm sizing accuracy before beginning to sew. This pattern does not contain basic paper piecing instructions. If you are a beginner, you can find good tutorials to help you learn the technique on YouTube or with a google search. I've found this to be a helpful starting point: http://www.patchpieces.com/files/demoFPP.pdf OR you can take a class on Craftsy! Enjoy! I can't wait to see what you create!
