PATTERN DETAILS

Contrasting textures in soft flannels and smooth satin are featured in this pieced baby blanket. A long-eared doggy sits in a window framed in shimmery satin ribbon. Asymmetrical frames of flannel with satin ribbon inserts echo and frame the offset window. The back is a solid piece of flannel, and no quilt batting is needed. Satin binding finishes the blanket. Included in this pattern you will find detailed instructions with photographs for piecing the quilt with ribbon inlays, a quick piecing diagram, templates and instructions for the doggy applique, plus a 10 page tutorial for sewing satin binding to the blanket. The tutorial also contains instructions for making a small satin receiving blanket. The total package is 21 pages long. When I retired from a lifetime of teaching in 2007, I was worried that I'd quickly get bored. That concern didn't last long at all. I was thrilled to discover that there really is life outside of the classroom. I spend parts of most of my days indulging in my favorite hobbies of quilting and sewing. I started designing patterns as an experiment, and no one was more surprised than I was to find that other people liked my little designs. I'm a teacher at heart, so I do try to write my patterns in such a way that beginning quilters can follow them. I include lots of details, photos, and little informative notes. I make myself easily available to my customers, and I respond to all questions as quickly and as thoroughly as I can.
