I love birds and after I finished the state birds for the United States, I wondered why no state picked the Blue Jay for its state bird. I started drawing and painting blue jays and fell in love with its beautiful coloring. They are a plentiful bird in most states. It is the provincial bird of Prince Edward Island in Canada. This pattern is finished in a 12" mini-quilt so instructions are included for the setting. Full size 8" layout for the bird and complete embroidery instructions are included. If you enlarge the applique block, you will need to adjust the pieces for the border to fit. If you need a binding tutorial, please download my Trick or Treat Mini-quilt pattern (available for free on Craftsy) for an excellent front to back binding tutorial. The acorn buttons are hand-made out of polymer clay and are available in my Etsy store (lexasworld) if buttons are desired instead of appliquing the acorns on the pattern.
