Share a little about the materials, processes and techniques used to create this cake: MDF, threaded steel rod, foam core

What are you most proud of? That I didn't pee my pants on the way to the party, only having the steel rod in one leg was nerve wracking!! But I trusted Mike wouldn't lie to me, and it was perfectly stable :)

What advice would you give someone starting this project? Do all your measurements twice, and sketch it out on a lifesize piece of paper before starting to make sure you haven't missed anything crucial.

Thanks Melz! Isn't it funny, when you see another decorator online you get a wee thrill when you realise they're from NZ ;)

hi Rachel, I love this cake! well done! as a fellow New Zealander, can I ask where you purchase your 1/2" foamcore from? I only seem to be able to find 5mm, I would love to have a play around with the foamcore as it is so much easier to deal with! any advice would be awesome! thanks so much!
