What advice would you give someone starting this project? Ease stitch the smaller upper section of the wool and the cotton separately at the stitching line I like to use the crowding technique where you place your finger behind the sewing machine foot, this prevents the fabric from feeding -Gretchen Hirsch shows you how in "Sew Retro: Starlet Suit Jacket" another of craftsys great classes. make sure to stitch around the ham twice for extra strength

Cool, never occurred to me to try to make one!

now I have the shoulder curve I need to press the sleeve cap seam allowances better, a lady once told me that a ham is suppose to have all the curves you need for pressing garments but the little one that I purchase from spotlight is almost square at the top and too small my collar goes around and overlaps, I could not find a better one here in Australia

What a clever idea! Your Pressing Ham looks great. I love your fun choice of fabric and the color.

thanks, the purple wool I found in our local fabric stores vintage section I knew I wanted something bright and fun, I have some friends in the sewing guild who want to buy them

Great Idea, its hard to find them here too and if they are very expensive. Have to find some wool fabric and make one too.
