What was your source for this quilting project? Other

What materials did you use? Cotton pre-printed panel, cotton backing fabric, polyester wadding, beads and sequins for embellishment.

What are you most proud of? This was finished in a day, including the embellishment. It's very roughly quilted, but the result is quite satisfying. My great-grandson, Leon is now two and a half years old and I think that he'll appreciate it this year - especially when it has all the little presents and sweets inside!

What advice would you give someone starting this project? It's really easy. The panel has full instructions printed on it and it would be very difficult for even the newest quilter to go wrong! The pockets are cut out and sewn onto the panel first, then the quilt sandwich is made by the "bagging out" method (no binding) and, finally you can quilt it as much or as little as you like and then embellish with sequins and beads for a nice festive look. Finally, make a hanging sleeve and it will be ready to use, starting on 1st December, right up until Christmas Eve!

Oh that is so beautiful ! well done hope you don't mind me asking but where did you get the panel ? as i'd love to attempt to do it for my Grandchildren .

I bought the panel at the Knitting and Stitching Show at Alexandra Palace, but it's available all over the place. You should be able to find it on line without too much trouble, I should think. I've seen it many times. Glad you like it! Thank you!

I love these! So cute! I always loved these as a kid! I have a felt applique kit with the sequins, but haven't started it yet. I love the idea of a quilted 1 though! (A day vs. a month! hah!) Did you find the panels on line or at a quilt shop? They will surely be treasured!! I have a stocking my God mother made me as a baby & to this day I still use & love it! :)

The panel is very easy to find on-line, but I actually bought this one at the Knitting and Stitching Show at Alexandra Palace (London). Most quilt shops seem to have it in England, but I'm sure you can get one on-line. Thank you for your kind comments! Patricia

Thank you so much! At two and a half years old, he'll probably be much more interested in the sweets that will be in the pockets!

Thank you! I've now posted it to his Mummy and she has contacted me to say that it has arrived safely. She is thrilled with it and is sure Leon will love it, as you say!
