|Here are some details about my project:|
What materials did you use? twill fabric lined with woven interfacing for the outer fabric and lining Canvas for the interlining Zippers O-rings Swivel hooks
What are you most proud of? I love the vertical zipper. It is functional, but more of a design element.
What advice would you give someone starting this project? The twill fabric fused with woven interlining used for the outer and lining fabric paired with the canvas interlining is the perfect combination for a structured, but not to stiff bag. Also, through trial and error, I prefer the look of the metal zippers on the outer bag as opposed to a nylon zipper. I think it looks more professional. I am very happy with how this bag turned out! I caught the upper part of the vertical zippered pocket in the upper seam of the of the handbag so it would not fall on the inner part of the bag. it was hard to deal with that extra bulk when it came time to turn the bag out and top stitch around the top. I managed to get it to look nice, but next time, I think I will just use some fusible tape and fuse the top of the pocket to the wrong side of the outer fabric just under the top of the bag. Ever since I have discovered fusible tape I use for lots of things! it works great to baste the handles around the rings before you sew to prevent shifting of the fabric!!!
