Gorgeous job, especially with worn fabric. Very old school, which quilting was all about.

How about a bow tie quilt from ties?

Sounds like a great idea. Ties are usually made from "silky" or silk fabrics and also cut on the biad. They would require stabilizing and the straight grain would need to be ascertained before cutying.

I have used silk ties and silk pieces from silk shirts and blouses and dresses from thrift stores for several quilts using the English Paper Piecing technique. Am working on one currently in an original design combining indigo linen and vintage kimono silk using "diamond" shapes that form the tumbling block pattern. English paper Piecing is an excellent technique for "taming" silk to obtain perfection results. Hope you try your idea!
