Vintage Collage

Project Description

What are you most proud of? That the money raised from the sale of these items will benefit a non-profit that keeps waste out of the landfill and trains people giving them new job skills. What advice would you give someone starting this project? I used Mod Podge to create this. Never use too much. It can ruin your paper. And always apply the mod podge to both sides of the pieces you are sticking together. Oh, and don't forget to lightly sand smooth surfaces so the paper will stick well.

What you will need

  • I'm participating in a fundraising auction for an organization that refurbishes appliances to keep them out of the landfill. Every year they hold this even. You go to their shop and pick out pieces to use in your art project. I picked up these for flame dispersers from an old gas range. I collaged on them using paper scraps and an old National Geographic.

Q&A with Michelle Marie

joyfulmaker asked:
I like it that you are using your crafting to help others. Found objects and pictures can be so interesting to devise a new way to use them. I use wallpaper samples on many of my cards. I like your pieces very much.
Michelle Marie answered:
Thank you! The pieces just sold at auction last night. It's fun to craft for a cause.
balticblonde asked:
I really like this whol concept. Is this a button and where do you find such supplies?
Michelle Marie answered:
These are piece from a gas range. and are 4" and 2.5" wide. You could do the same type of decopage work on just about anything. The background paper is hand screen printed from India, got it at a paper store and the images are from a vintage national goegraphic.
