Shea Butter Soap

Project Description

What advice would you give someone starting this project? My advice to anyone wanting to try cold process soap making would be, don't be afraid, follow the directions, Alia is a wonderful teacher. Most importanly, always, always, always, wear the safety goggles, gloves (there are latex free gloves) and everything else to keep yourself and those around you safe. I have found this is fun and we are anxiously awaiting our soaps to cure so we can use them.

Yemeli asked:
Beautiful! I like the mold you used :)
sweatersnthings answered:
Thank you. This is turning out to be quite fun.
akpharvey@yahoo.com asked:
Hi, really pretty soap. Did it stay white? What besides shea butter did you use? thanks
sweatersnthings answered:
Hi! Thank you. That was my first attempt at soap. I used the recipe for the Coconut Lime Soap, but only for the oils. Even then, I used Palm Kernel Flakes instead of the oil and added about 4 oz of Shea Butter. I then ran the new recipe through the lye calculator at www.brambleberry.com. Really like their website and the service from them. Hope all goes well with your soap.
