Refreshing an old (brass) light fixture

Project Description

What are you most proud of? I love that this whole project used what I already had here- plus a can of spray paint and a beautiful afternoon outdoors. Also the help form my husband in taking the fixture down, taking it apart, putting it on the table, all the pieces parts, and yes- he used the spray paint as well! I guess I was the project manager after all! Isn't that the way it goes, I come up with the ideas and then get "someone" to do it! Love the finished product! No more wishing for a new fixture and searching- it was here all along! What advice would you give someone starting this project? The main thing. besides taking the fixture down safely, is getting all the parts sprayed to cover the original color. I used some cardboard to place the knobs and screws into so they could be sprayed all the way around. Also hanging the largest part up- to spray from all angles is important. You will be seeing the fixture from underneath actually remember- not from the top generally- unless you have a loft above where it hangs! Mine is in normal height ceilings in our foyer.
