The Ella & The Grady Sleep Sacks

Project Description

What was your source for this knitting project? Online Photo or Website Name of website or photo Brownie Knits (at BrownieKnits.com) Link to website or photo http://brownieknits.com What are you most proud of? I'm really proud that for the first several months, Ella lived in this sack. She loved it and other babies are now enjoying them, too! I've even had mothers tell me that people have asked to buy their sleep sack right off the baby! What advice would you give someone starting this project? I recommend that you stick with a semi-solid or solid for the Ella Sack to show off the cable. However, if you want to have fun and play with the different sock/fingering weight yarns that are out there and super fun, make a Grady Sack. I give yard amounts in the pattern, but if you want it super fun. Disclaimer: You are responsible for the health and safety of your child and should not leave baby unattended while in sack. You can purchase the pattern in my BrownieKnits Craftsy shop, the Brownie Knits Ravelry shop, my Etsy store at etsy.com/shop/brownieknits, and at BrownieKnits.com.

What you will need

  • Fingering weight superwash merino yarn (380-450 yards depending on which of the two patterns you use). Size US 2 and 3 needles
  • stitch markers
  • and cable need (for Ella Sack).
  • US 3 / 3.0 mm / UK 11

Q&A with BrownieKnits

Febes62 asked:
They are just gorgeous & I love the little smile your little model has...Snug as a bug!!!
BrownieKnits answered:
Thanks! That is my niece Ella--my first visit with her.
ida_ann10 asked:
like the sack but I do not do cables....would have to modify....
BrownieKnits answered:
No problem! Where the pattern says to do the purls and cable, you can just knit as you do the other stitches. And...if you don't have the cable, you could use some of the fun multi-colored yarns!

love it!! just got a pattern for an Eskimo Coccoon..... very similar to this one. How do I get the pattern?

Thanks! Pattern can be purchased at: http://www.etsy.com/shop/brownieknits
robin.mer39851 asked:
I love this! How long did ti take to knit?
BrownieKnits answered:
I usually knit them up in a week (while working on other projects, too). The Grady Sack knits up a bit faster because it is more mindless without the cable.
