When working on Version 1, having never worked with any of these "ruffling" yarns before, I figured out how to use this yarn as a substitute for casting on! (This incidentally makes it very easy to keep the lower edge from being too tight.) What advice would you give someone starting this project? The yarns I used for my samples, particularly the Scraplet Skeins, really do most of the work for you-- the knitting itself is fairly simple. (The Chevron Stitch is a 2-row repeat; worked in the round, this means no purling in this section!) If you'd like to substitute something else for the Scraplet Skeins, I'd recommend a bulky-weight self-striping yarn-- the better to show off your Chevron Stitch! Also, especially for Version 2, make sure you choose a yarn for the neckband that will feel really good next to your skin.
