newborn baby outfit

Project Description

What are you most proud of? I love the new yarns available. Thirty years ago I knit baby sweaters on size one metal straight needles with fine fingering yarn. Now traditional baby clothes are now knit with DK yarns, brighter colors, and easier to knit on circular needles (usually size four). It is like starting to knit over again but it so much more fun now. What advice would you give someone starting this project? Don't always think about pastel colors for babies. Look for brighter colors and self-striping yarns. Also buttons available today come in many shapes, designs and colors. Square buttons are available and look fantastic. My next sweater will have square buttons to add a more modern look. This pattern is easy for anyone to knit. A beginner could do it with a little bit of help. This pattern has sleeves that roll up. As baby grows sleeves are rolled down for longer wear. The possibilities of colors and yarns are endless.

What you will need

dianemvalentino asked:
oops! I did not look closely at your page and did see the yarn used. I made this same set three times using Koigu's DK weight. Koigu uses fantastic colors in their handpainted yarns and make for great baby knits in unusual colors. Your set is adorble!!
jmlucier22522 answered:
Thanks, I'll check out Koigu yarn.
