What are you most proud of? That I finished my first lace project and it looks good! What advice would you give someone starting this project? A) Take Carol Feller's Short Row class B) Read through the pattern, some will not make sense until you get there but you will have moments of, "I remember reading that somewhere." C) Know that the lace portion is at the beginning of one row and at the end of another, the body is either just knit or purled. D) When the pattern calls for a double yarn over and a purl stitch is next, you actually do 2 1/2 wraps. E) On the short rows, it is listed as Row 1 & 2 because once you wrap and turn, you are then on Row 2. F) When the pattern says, "Rows 3-8: Repeat Rows 1 & 2..." It means to knit or purl as written in those rows but to follow the lace chart for the corresponding row when you need to knit the lace portion. G) One tip I missed, weigh your yarn. When you have used half, if you are halfway in the pattern continue on. If you have more than half left, you can add more teeth to make it longer. I was able to add four teeth. H) I put in a stitch marker after a wrap so that I would not forget about it on the next row. I) I wrote directly on my chart what the symbols were so that it was easy to follow - there was no guess work! J) When you come to a double yarn over from the previous round, you do a p1, k1 into it. Practice it on scrap yarn so you can see how it works. It is easy but is also easy to make a mistake here. This is easy once you get rolling and work out the kinks. Suddenly you will have your "Ah ha" moment and be on your way.
