Darling Darby Sweater

Project Description

What was your source for this knitting project? Online Photo or Website Name of website or photo Darling Darby Sweater - PDF Link to website or photo www.drdesigns.net/free.html What are you most proud of? Darling Darby is shaped like dogs - and therefore fits better than other dog sweater patterns. The Darling Darby Gallery on my web site shows the many different size dogs knitters have used this pattern for. What advice would you give someone starting this project? As a guide for a custom fit sweater it is important that you do a gauge swatch, and measure carefully. The pattern includes a guide for measuring your dog and places to note your calculations.

What you will need

  • Worsted weight yarn / Circular needle / Set of dpns / Stitch markers / Stitch holders

Q&A with Jean Clement

Vitosmom asked:
Love the way your sweaters came out - great job. I've had a hard time trying to fit my IG, much the way you would with a Whippet - same shape :) I will definately try this as my one other attempt didn't fit well. Thank you. Beautiful 'kids' by the way :)

oh I love these! My daughter in law has a mini Italian Greyhound named Buddy and he looks just like yours in the yellow sweater. Can I make that by crocheting it? I don't know how to knit, and I have been wanting to learn how to make a dog sweater. It has to be easy because I don't know how to read a pattern.
Jean Clement answered:
A crochet version of Darling Darby is planned and I hope to have it out this fall. Since this is more of a guide than a line by line pattern, it's important to know how to knit & measure a gauge swatch, and do the math to customize the sweater for the dog. I'm glad you like "Darling Darby Sweater".

Love your sweater! Darby is so cute. I too have an IG, her name is Sophia . Will try to post picture.
Jean Clement answered:
Thank you! I'd love to see a photo of Sophia, especially in a Darling Darby Sweater. :)
