The patterning in this shawl bring to mind memories of spending the summers at our family cottage in Nova Scotia on the ocean. The way the tides ebb and flow leaving waves in the sandbars and along the shore, so i call it Waves Along the Shore. Knit from the top down with increases built in the "waves" so they gradually get larger the longer the shawl grows. Easy enough for an experienced beginner and the repetition makes for great "sofa" knitting. It is in written form with no charts. I used approximately 630 m of handspun yarn for these photos but others have used as little as 550 when using a fine lace yarn. Corrections: Row 16 should read as ...."repeat to last 11 stitches, k3, m1, k1, m1, k3, yo, k4 (73 sts) BASIC SKILLS NECESSARY knit purl yo ssk k2tog cast on bind off GAUGE 20 stitches and 32 rows = 4" blocked SIZING / FINISHED MEASUREMENTS 24" x 65" SUGGESTED YARN 650 meters of Lace weight
