I worked with Wendy Bernard on her book "Custom Knits", which talks about the joys of top-down knitting, and was inspired to create this pullover. You cast on for the back and work to the armholes, then pick up for the front from the back stitches and work to the armholes. The body is worked in the round to the bottom edge, and then the sleeves are picked up from the armholes and worked to the bottom as well, so when the sleeves are done, all that's left is the neckband - no seams! The yarn I used works up at a gauge of 5 sts per inch in Stockinette stitch; if you wish to use a different yarn, make sure you find one that will match this gauge. At 6' tall, I used to have a hard time finding sweaters with long enough sleeves. So I took up knitting to make my own sweaters.
